Service Description

Beginning on flat water using games and play, kids will learn strokes and skills to help them successfully manoeuvre their kayaks. Games will increase in challenge to the point where participants will be encouraged to take risks and capsize (wet exit). A strong emphasis will be placed on gradual progression as well as "challenge by choice." The second half of the day includes giving kids the opportunity to run class 1+ moving water with their instructors. Training includes: - 1 day of instruction with Candlebox Kayaking's experienced, highly certified, expert instructors - High-quality equipment including kayaks by Jackson Kayak and Soul Waterman, paddles, helmets, and other safety equipment - Photos from your time on the water - Experience on (up to) class 1+ whitewater run on Nova Scotia's South Shore Course Duration: 1 Day. Start Time: 8:30 am. Location: LaHave River, Bridgewater, NS Please book at least 48hrs in advance. We do our best to accommodate last-minute bookings. Please note, parents/guardians will be contacted to ask questions regarding swimming ability (all participants must be strong swimmers). We reserve the right to request a parent/guardian accompany children as a chaperone. Chaperones will be charged $75+tax for kayak and gear rental. Includes: Youth kayak, paddle, PFD, sprayskirt, throw bag, helmet.

Cancellation Policy

All courses and tours run at the discretion of instructors and guides (mostly according to the weather). We do our best to provide instruction/tours suitable to the conditions. We require 30 days notice for cancellation(s) of courses (excluding SKGABC guide training which is 75 days) and 48hrs notice for cancellations of tours. For cancellations a full refund less a 20% administration fee will be issued. Our cancellation policy must apply even in the event of a medical problem or family circumstance. We will do everything possible to fill your vacant spot for you. In the case of a Force Majeure, such as but not limited to acts of terrorism, war, pandemics, labour disputes, government actions, strikes, or major adverse weather conditions, all terms and conditions may be subject to change. We reserve the right to cancel or alter any clinics or trips due to weather or insufficient registration. In these cases, full refunds will be issued and we will do our best to reschedule. We do our best to reschedule. If any participant experiences symptoms of COVID-19 in the 14 days prior to training, the participant must cancel. We're happy to provide full credit to attend the same or similar training at a later date. If you cannot make it to a training location due to transportation disruptions or travel restrictions, we are pleased to provide a full credit for the same or similar training.
