Service Description

Gain the confidence and skills you need to kayak sheltered waters with others in this fun, structured clinic! From discussing a kayak’s safety features to successfully getting in, launching, and landing, the basics of kayaking will be demystified. Learn how to get a friend back into their kayak in the event of an on water capsize. Learn wet exits and the skills and techniques needed to make good decisions. Paddle Canada Basic Kayak Skills certification available. Experience includes: - 6-7hr kayak skills training with Candlebox Kayaking's experienced, highly certified, expert coaches - High quality equipment including paddles, pumps, skirts, PFD's - Classroom based introduction to navigation (charts and compass), and risk assessment/mitigation (weather, tides, sea state, preparedness, equipment, etc.) What people are saying: "There were five "students" in the Basic Kayaking Skills and Safety course on Sunday and Matt had a lot of ground to cover, especially since some of those five had never been in a kayak before. Cancellation Policy

All courses run at the discretion of instructors (mostly according to the weather). We do our best to provide instruction suitable to the conditions. We require 30 days notice for cancellation(s) of courses (excluding SKGABC guide training which is 75 days). Cancellations must be made via E-mail to info@candleboxkayaking.com. We reserve the right to cancel or alter any clinics or trips due to weather or insufficient registration. We do our best to reschedule. If any participant experiences symptoms of COVID-19 in the 14 days prior to training, the participant must cancel. We're happy to provide full credit to attend the same or similar training at a later date. If you cannot make it to a training location due to transportation disruptions or travel restrictions, we are pleased to provide a full credit for the same or similar training. As all outdoor activities involve risk, we recommend you obtain any personal, medical, and/or cancellation insurance that you may deem appropriate. Thanks.
