Service Description
Get ready to to take your whitewater kayaking to the next level with this year long mentorship style training program. We'll start this training in the pool mastering our roll on both sides as well as bracing and strokes on flat water. We'll then take to the river, getting super comfortable with class I-II before progressing to class II-III. As winter and spring turn to summer and rivers get low we'll move to the ocean, learning to surf, as well as working on skills like tailies in tidal currents. When heavy rains begin again in October/November we'll head back to the rivers to consolidate skills and tackle the more challenging class III-IV whitewater. This program also includes online meetup opportunities to help increase paddling IQ. Training includes: - 12 days of instruction with Candlebox Kayaking's experienced, highly certified, expert instructors - High-quality equipment including kayaks by Jackson Kayak, paddles by Werner, drysuits by Kokatat (on a first come/first served basis), and all other necessary safety equipment - Photos from your time on the water - Experience on (up to) intermediate and or advanced (class II-IV) whitewater on Nova Scotia's South Shore What people are saying: "I have had two days of intermediate white water training with Matt DeLong. Matt, thru a well thought out approach to each day, helped me take the next step and assisted me in comfortably engaging in new challenges. At the end of each day I left with a great sense of achievement and a deeper understanding of the workings of moving water. Having experienced Matt's dedication to helping every paddler achieve more control and comfort in one's own paddling skills I can do nothing other than "Very highly recommend" Matt's coaching. Thank you Matt." - Frank, TripAdvisor *Please note: All paddlers need to be vetted in advance via a phone call (902) 637-7115 and/or E-mail info@candleboxkayaking.com.
