Service Description

This course provides national certification in the instruction and administration of the Paddle Canada Beginner River Kayak skills course. A Beginner River Kayak Instructor is certified to: - Conduct Paddle Canada Beginner River Kayak Skills training and to certify paddlers at that level - Conduct Paddle Canada Flatwater Kayak Skills training and to certify paddlers at that level - Conduct Paddle Canada Recreational River Kayak Skills training and to certify paddlers at that level Prerequisites: - At least 18 years of age. - Membership: Current Paddle Canada membership and provincial paddling organization membership - Certification: Paddle Canada Intermediate River Kayak Skills certification - First Aid: Current certification in first aid (14 hours) with CPR highly recommended - Instructor experience: None. - Rolling ability: The ability to consistently roll a kayak in class 1 moving water on one side. - Safety training: Swiftwater recuse training recommended If you paddle moving water (slow moving rivers up to class 1) and are a leader/guide this training is a must. Training includes: - 3 days instructor training with Candlebox Kayaking's experienced, highly certified, expert coaches - Time spent paddling the Medway River - High quality equipment including kayaks by Jackson Kayak, Waka Kayaks, paddles by Werner, drysuits by Kokatat (on a "first come/first served" basis), spray skirts, PFD What people are saying: "I took (a) kayaking instructor course through Candlebox Kayaking and I was impressed with the professionalism from owner Matt DeLong. Location: Medway River, Greenfield, NS. Meet at a pre-determined classroom space at 8:30am the first day of the training. Cost: $575/person+tax (does not include Paddle Canada instructor membership - $99.99+tax) Please book at least 48hrs in advance. Cancellation Policy

All courses run at the discretion of instructors (mostly according to the weather). We do our best to provide instruction suitable to the conditions. We require 30 days notice for cancellation(s) of courses (excluding SKGABC guide training which is 75 days). Cancellations must be made via E-mail to info@candleboxkayaking.com. We reserve the right to cancel or alter any clinics or trips due to weather or insufficient registration. We do our best to reschedule. If any participant experiences symptoms of COVID-19 in the 14 days prior to training, the participant must cancel. We're happy to provide full credit to attend the same or similar training at a later date. If you cannot make it to a training location due to transportation disruptions or travel restrictions, we are pleased to provide a full credit for the same or similar training. As all outdoor activities involve risk, we recommend you obtain any personal, medical, and/or cancellation insurance that you may deem appropriate. Thanks.
