Service Description
This course provides national certification in the instruction and administration of the Paddle Canada Basic Kayak skills course. A Basic Kayak Skills instructor is certified to: - Conduct Paddle Canada Waterfront Kayak and Basic Kayak skills courses and certify paddlers at those levels - Assist a Level-1 Instructor on a Level-1 Skills course, - Assist a Kayak Rolling Instructor on a Kayak Rolling clinic, and - Assist a Basic Kayak Instructor Trainer on a Waterfront Kayak Instructor course. Prerequisites: - At least 16 years of age. - Certification: Sea Kayak Level-1 Skills certification. - First Aid: Current certification in first aid (14 hours) with CPR. - Teaching Experience: None. - Paddling Experience: Significant paddling experience in a wide variety of conditions and locations. - Candidates are expected to be able to perform all safety and skill items to a level and confidence superior to that of a student taking the Basic Kayak skill course. If working as a sea kayak instructor in the growing sea kayaking industry interests you, or if you're on staff with a municipal recreation department and run kayak programs, or if you work at a camp that runs kayak programs, this is THE course for you. It offers certification to instruct or assist on a variety of sea kayak programs, making candidates attractive assets to many companies and community organizations. This is also great training for anyone who regularly paddles with less experienced paddlers looking for tips/advice. Cancellation Policy
All courses run at the discretion of instructors (mostly according to the weather). We do our best to provide instruction suitable to the conditions. We require 30 days notice for cancellation(s) of courses (excluding SKGABC guide training which is 75 days). Cancellations must be made via E-mail to info@candleboxkayaking.com. We reserve the right to cancel or alter any clinics or trips due to weather or insufficient registration. We do our best to reschedule. If any participant experiences symptoms of COVID-19 in the 14 days prior to training, the participant must cancel. We're happy to provide full credit to attend the same or similar training at a later date. If you cannot make it to a training location due to transportation disruptions or travel restrictions, we are pleased to provide a full credit for the same or similar training. As all outdoor activities involve risk, we recommend you obtain any personal, medical, and/or cancellation insurance that you may deem appropriate. Thanks.
