Learn to Kayak Kids Version! Sept 29th
Introduce your child to the joy of kayaking in a fun and supportive day clinic!
Service Description
The Paddle Canada Basic Kayak Skills (Kids) course is designed especially for young paddlers who want to explore the water in a safe and playful environment. Through games, challenges, and lots of time on the water, kids will build the foundational paddling skills that open the door to a lifetime of adventure. We’ll begin on shore with an introduction to kayaks, paddles, and safety gear, making sure everything is properly fitted for comfort and fun. Once on the water, kids will learn how to move their kayak forward, backward, and turn with control. We’ll also practice essential safety skills, such as what to do if they tip over. Our experienced instructors create a supportive atmosphere where learning happens through encouragement, practice, and play. Training includes: - 6hrs of kid-friendly, participant-focused instruction following the Paddle Canada Basic Kayak Skills curriculum - Successful participants will receive the nationally recognized Paddle Canada Basic Kayak Skills certification - High quality, appropriately sized kayaks, paddles, spray skirts, and PFDs (immersion wear available on a first come/served basis) - Low student-to-instructor ratios to ensure safety, confidence, and personalized attention What people are saying: "There were five "students" in the Basic Kayaking Skills and Safety course on Sunday and Matt had a lot of ground to cover, especially since some of those five had never been in a kayak before. But somehow, Matt made it feel like we were all getting private lessons. He was very attentive to each one of us. It was a great day and damn, Shelburne harbour is beautiful! Thanks, Matt!" - Mary-Jane, TripAdvisor Minimum 3 participants Meet at Kedge Beach, Kejimkujik National Park
